Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots
Bacon-wrapped tots are so easy to make and they’re packed with flavor! It’s the perfect dish for poker night, game day, or just a satisfying snack.
Rich has a very close group of guy friends. They went to an all boys high school together, and frankly, they act like high schoolers sometimes. But what I love about their friend group is how they still make time for guys' nights. Whether they’re playing poker or rec basketball, they’re always doing something.
When we first started dating, I begged him to let me make a tray of snacks for him to bring to these get-togethers. Maybe it’s the mom in me, maybe I just really wanted to lock him down… but regardless, he would never let me cook anything for them!
Initially, I was concerned- like does this kid not like my cooking? But he explained to me he thought his friends would make fun of him for bringing something, like any good party-goer does. I tried to explain that no man would get mad about someone bringing food, but it still took him two years to give me the green light.
I felt like it was an audition. I knew I needed to make some kind of “man-snack” and I knew bacon and bourbon are the key to a man’s heart. So, I send him with these sweet, salty, punchy bacon wrapped tots, and guess what? They were a HIT! In fact, one of his friends requested to make these again. In. Your. Face. Richard!
Let's begin!
First take each strip of bacon and cut them into about 3 inch strips. When I first made these, I simply cut each bacon slice in half, but I noticed I was using a lot of bacon for a little tot. Then I tried to cut the strip in thirds, but it wouldn’t fully wrap the tot. So, 3 inches it is! If you desire a larger bacon to tot ratio, then by all means, go for that half cut 😉
Place each to seam side down on a cookie sheet. By doing this, it’ll ensure the tot does not come unwrapped while cooking. Place in the oven for about 20 minutes at 425°.
